Capitol Steel delivered the mechanical installation for Balcones Recycling’s new $68 million, 145,000-square-foot Materials Recovery Facility in San Antonio, installing the CP Group–designed 50-ton-per-hour system including conveyors, screens, sort-line structures, and support steel. Superintendent Jeremy McClain led daily field operations, directing sequencing, safety, rigging plans, and precise fit-up and alignment for a 20-plus-man crew working in tight quarters, while Project Manager Jeff Cullen managed submittals, procurement, and coordination with CP Group, MSS, and Athens Services, maintaining schedules and documentation to keep the project on track. Working under an accelerated timeline, the Capitol Steel team completed system integration safely and on time, supporting a highly automated facility that increases recovery rates, reduces contamination, and expands processing capacity for San Antonio and surrounding communities, further demonstrating Capitol Steel’s ongoing partnership with CP Group and its national expertise in complex mechanical installations.
